Michael Moody has been named the permanent Fire Chief of the Ithaca Fire Department. His appointment was voted on unanimously by the City of Ithaca Common Council during their January 7, 2026 meeting, and the decision is effective immediately. Mr. Moody had been serving as Acting Fire Chief since October 2025 after the retirement of former Fire Chief Rob Covert.
