Cornell Raptor Program Nurtures Injured Eagles

The Cornell Raptor Program at Cornell University in Ithaca is caring for two injured birds—a one-eyed golden eagle named Esther and a one-winged bald eagle named Gracie. Both birds sustained injuries after being shot in the wild and are now under long-term care at the program.

Located on East Hill, the facility is part of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and houses about two dozen birds, including an American kestrel, a peregrine falcon, and four species of owl. Many of the birds in the program have injuries that prevent them from returning to the wild.

Student volunteers, like Angelina Tang ’28, work closely with the birds, building trust over months of careful rehabilitation. The program continues to provide dedicated care for all the injured birds.
